Wallonia’s Debt
The financial situation of Wallonia, the southern part of Belgium, looks bad. Due to the Corona crisis and the destructive floods in 2021, the debt threatens to become unmanageable. That's why I’ve depicted a red rooster as the official symbol of Wallonia, wearing a mouth mask and rubber boots.
I also literally and figuratively let the rooster lose its own feathers, because of the Flemish proverb ‘z’n pluimen verliezen’, which means 'losing a good reputation'.
